Dress Code Policy
West Campus High School
DRESS CODE POLICY
All teachers will be required to check the attire of students
during second period. Any student found in violation of the
dress code will be sent to the office immediately. Students
found in violation throughout the remainder of the day will
receive additional consequences
The administration reserves the right to make a determination
that an item of clothing, a logo, or other style and/or fashion
statement is disruptive or inappropriate and take action to
resolve the situation. Students may be prohibited from wearing
certain attire not listed in the West Campus Policy that is
in violation of the district’s gang dress policy or causes
a schoolwide
safety concern
All clothing:
• Must be neat, in good condition and fit appropriately
for conventional school standards.
Tops:
• Must have a sleeve or collar or both.
• T- Shirts may be worn but may not be a solid red, blue,
or white.
• Any officially recognized West Campus t-shirt (organization,
team, class, school, etc.) is allowed.
• Armpits and midriffs must be covered.
• Tank tops and spaghetti straps are not allowed.
• Mesh tops may not be worn, even with another garment under
them.
Bottoms:
• Jeans, khakis, capris, skirts and shorts may be worn.
• Sagging or excessively tight jeans or pants are not allowed.
• Frayed jeans or pants are not allowed.
• Low rise or hip huggers are not allowed.
• Athletic shorts, (basketball shorts, running shorts, etc.)
are not appropriate except while in gym or working out.
• Sweat pants and warm-up pants are not business casual and
are not allowed except as permitted during PE or when worn
for away game days as part of a uniform.
• Pajama bottoms (and tops!) may not be worn.
• All skirts and shorts must be a maximum of three inches
above the knee. Mini skirts are not allowed.
• In general, the shorts and skirts currently in fashion for
girls ARE NOT long enough for school and should not be worn.
You will have to minimize your fashion sense to be in compliance.
Sweatshirts/ Jackets:
• Must be appropriate. Inappropriate pictures and language
are prohibited. Trench coats and stadium jackets are prohibited.
Shoes:
• Flip flops and slippers may not be worn to school. Closed
toe shoes must be worn in ALL science classes.
• Excessively worn shoes are not allowed
Belts/ buckles:
• Must be of an appropriate length and may not have initials
or logos on them.
• Belts may not dangle and chains are not to be worn.
Accessories:
• Purses, jewelry, decorations must not be a distraction
and must be safe.
Hats/Hair Apparel:
• Only official West Campus baseball caps are allowed. All
other baseball caps are prohibited.
• Fashion hats and beanies are allowed. However, all hats
MUST be removed upon entering ANY classroom including hoods.
• Bandanas, sweat bands, do-rags, hoods, and hair nets are
prohibited.
Hair:
• Must not be a distraction to the learning environment.
Electronic Devices:
Cell Phones: Students are allowed to bring
cell phones to school for emergency purposes only. Phones
must be turned off between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Cell phones
in use during these hours will be confiscated by staff, turned
in to the Assistant Principal and returned to parents. Cell
phones with cameras are prohibited. Students seen using a
cell phone with a camera or video function will have their
phone confiscated and will be suspended from school.
iPods/Music Players: iPods or other music
players are not allowed between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM. All iPods
will be confiscated and kept until a parent is able to retrieve
the device should any part of the device be made visible between
the identified hours. This includes headsets.
Consequences:
Students will be required to change clothes. Parents may
be contacted to bring in additional clothing. Additional consequences
for dress code violations are as follows:
• 1st violation: Warning
• 2nd violation: Detention
• 3rd violation: Saturday school
• 4th violation: possible Suspension
